Landis School Garden Project!

On Friday, March 16, the Grade 9-10 class of Landis School hosted a Community Talent show fundraiser for their School and Community Garden project.  Students decorated the hall, set up tables and chairs, hooked up the sound system and a Karaoke center, baked desserts and set up a concession. In the weeks leading up to the Talent Show, the Grade 9-10s talked to local businesses and generated over $300 in prizes for the raffle draws. The students advertised for the show, and put together a program for the night. During the Talent show, Regan Sittler and Megan Bryan were excellent hosts, discussing the purpose of the evening, showcasing the performers, thanking the businesses who donated prizes to the raffle. The evening provided entertainment that included young magicians, teenage musicians, Karate experts, and an awesome display of talent with three Air Cadets that played marches on a bagpipe, a snare drum, and a tenor drum! The food and entertainment were truly exemplary!  Seated at tables were seniors, parents, and children. Grade 2 boys chatted with Grade 11 musicians about Karate while watching a Grade 7 play piano on stage.
Best of all, the evening provided awesome funding for the School Garden project! After the entertainment was done, every member of the audience came together to help clean up, stack chairs, put away tables, and tidy up the concession and kitchen! It was wonderful to see Grade 2s and Grade 12s side by side sweeping and cleaning up the complex alongside parents and grandparents, cousins and friends. Within a half hour, everything was spotless and the parking lot was empty.  Way to go Landis!
